7th graders have started their vocabulary unit and will continue with this exercise every day until the end of the year.  They will have bi-weekly quizzes and encouraged to incorporate these words into their speech and writings.

Students will also continue reflective writing and thinking and move into imaginative writing through lessons on mythology, fables and folklore.  They will also read and analyze short stories by Roald Dahl and then move into their novel for the quarter, The Pigman.

Homework for this week will be to annotate short stories by Roald Dahl that cannot be completed during class.

At the end of the week, those participating in the ABSH Speech competition will compete (present their speech) in-class to determine who will represent 7th grade and go head-to-head with the 6th grade winner to determine who’ll represent Category B for the competition in February.  Teachers will be judging this in-class competition.

Week 13
Good Morning!                                                                                                                                                           ¡Buenos Días!

October is the tenth month of the year in the modern day Gregorian calendar.
The month kept its original name from the Roman calendar in Latin, in which
octo means “eight;” marking it the eighth month of the year.

Octubre es el décimo mes del año en la época actual del calendario gregoriano.                                       El mes mantuvo su nombre original del calendario romano en latín, en el cual                                          octo significa “ocho;” marcando así el octavo mes del año.

On this week, we will continue with the following lessons:

THE BODY: using personal and possessive pronouns, plus personal adjectives as we learn      about the parts of the body.

PERSONAL PRONOUNS                                                                                                                                                              Singular: I /me, you /you, he /him, she /her, it /it                                                                                                 Plural: we /us, you /you, they /them

POSSESSIVE ADJECTIVES and POSSESSIVE PRONOUNS:                                                                                               Singular: my /mine, your /yours, his /his, her /hers, it /not used                                                                    Plural: our/ours, your/yours, their/theirs
